Whitey Johnstone Tribute

Mr. Whitey Johnstone

(1936-1999)

Irwin Joseph Johnstone better known as "Whitey" by friends and family passed away January 27, 1999. An elder statesman for the industry, Whitey was such a positive influence that he was able to leave a lasting impression from the first time you met him.

Whitey's professional contribution to Beck Taxi will leave an irreplaceable void. Whitey began working at Bell Canada as a young man. Throughout his twenty-five year career with Bell Canada, he honed his skills as a customer service professional. During his years at Bell Canada, Whitey drove a taxi part-time. When Whitey retired from Bell Canada, Beck Taxi was fortunate to be able to hire Whitey as their full time Customer Service Advisor. Whitey's energetic and enthusiastic approach to his work made him an exemplary role model for all fellow employees and Independent Contractors.

Whitey was also Beck Taxi's in-house instructor for their customer service/sensitivity Independent Contractor-training workshop. Whitey dynamic presence and ability to connect with the Independent Contractors made his workshops both fun and informative. Whitey's contributions can be attributed to the many customer service awards won by Beck Taxi.

To anyone that has known Whitey, they are undoubtedly better off. Whitey was a people-person, friendly and always smiling. He had remarkable patience and truly cared about the people he came into contact with. Whitey will be remembered equally for his sense of humour as for his insightful wisdom. Whitey's generosity and ability to help without any thought for himself was a unique gift of selflessness. Whitey will be forever missed by all fortunate enough to have known him. To our friend, good-bye for now. We will miss you.
